A Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) is a popular cosmetic procedure that involves fat transfer to help you create more fullness in the buttocks.
Unlike other types of surgical buttock procedures, such as silicone implant placement, a Brazilian butt lift is designed to deliver more natural results while also adding more roundness to the backside.
It can also help address certain issues, such as sagging and lack of shape that can occur with age. You may also consider this procedure if you’re bothered by imbalances in certain areas that make it difficult to wear clothing comfortably.
PREPARATION
The procedure is usually performed under anesthesia, but in cases where a smaller volume of fat is transferred, it can be done with only local anesthesia.
Your surgeon will then use liposuction to remove fat from other areas of the body, such as the hips, abdomen, and thighs.
The fat deposits that have just been removed from the body are purified and prepared for injection into the buttocks. Your surgeon will inject the processed fat into specific areas of the buttocks to create a fuller, rounder appearance. Three to five small incisions are made around the buttocks to perform the fat transfer.
A compression garment is then applied to the affected skin areas to reduce the risk of bleeding.
POST-PROCEDURE
As with any cosmetic surgery, you will need to take special care after a BBL. You will not be able to sit on your buttocks for two weeks after the procedure and will need to sleep on your stomach until the area fully heals.
The buttocks may remain swollen for several weeks as you recover from the surgery. In general, the effects of this surgical intervention can last from several months to years.
It may take up to six months to see the full results from the initial procedure. You can ensure a positive outcome by maintaining a stable weight over time.
