After the operation you will be kept under observation in a recovery room, where you are monitored to prevent any complications. You can leave later that day to recover at home.

After surgery, you may temporarily experience blurred vision from the lubricating ointment applied to the eyes, wet eyes, sensitivity to light, double vision, pain or discomfort.

Your doctor will suggest that you take the following steps after the operation:

• Gently clean your eyelids and use prescribed glasses or ointments.

• Avoid difficult activities, such as aerobics and jogging, for a week.

• Avoid smoking.

• Avoid rubbing your eyes.

• If you use contact lenses, do not wear them for about two weeks after surgery.

• Wear dark shades of sunglasses to protect your eyelids from the sun and wind.

• Sleep with your head raised above your chest for a few days.

• Apply cold compresses to reduce swelling.
