6 & 12 MONTHS GASTRIC BALLOON: The Intragastric Balloon for 6&12 months is done with the help of endoscopy under sedation. During this procedure the attending doctor passes a catheter (thin tube) with the endoscope attached down your throat to release and inflate with saline.
Patients are required to return back to have the balloon removed at the respective months.

WHAT ARE THE SIDE EFFECTS OF THE GASTRIC BALLOONWith the gastric balloon the usual side effects that can be expected are nausea or vomiting, cramping, after placement. In some patients it may last from a few days to one week, also not everyone feel the side effects.

CAN THE BALLOON INJURE MY STOMACH?The gastric balloon is constructed from a very smooth and soft silicone material to reduce the risk of irritating the stomach wall. You will also be prescribed medicines that will reduce the acidity in your stomach and help protect your stomach wall. Patients with prior stomach surgery are not eligible for the procedure because of a higher risk of the balloon causing a perforation in the stomach.

HOW IS THE ALLURION GASTRIC BALLOON INSERTEDThe Allurion Gastric Balloon is a pill balloon type capsule that is swallowed under the guidance of your attending doctor and done without the need of sedation or help of endoscopy. The placement takes place during a less than 20-minute outpatient visit. You will simply swallow a capsule containing the deflated Balloon with a catheter: once the Balloon is confirmed to be in your stomach via x-ray, the Balloon is filled with water through a catheter. A second x-ray takes place to ensure the Balloon is filled correctly.

WHAT IS THE EXPECTED WEIGHT-LOSS WITH THE GASTRIC BALLOON?The average weight loss with the gastric balloon is 15kg based on the commitment of a combined effort of healthy eating, following the diet plan provided with our dietitian support and regular exercises.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE 4, 6 & 12 MONTHS BALLOONS.The difference between all 3 options, are the methods of how they are inserted and removed from the body, also determined by the personal goals of the patients and how long they intend to be on a diet for. The 4 months Allurion/Elipse Balloon does not require patients to return back to Turkey to have it removed, as it dissolves by itself from the body in a natural state. While for the 6 months and 12 months balloon options, the patients are required to return back to Turkey respectively to have them removed with endoscopy.

HOW ARE THE ENDOSCOPY BALLOONS OF 6 & 12 MONTHS INSERTED AND REMOVED?Both the 6 and 12 months balloon procedure is done with the help of endoscopy, this simply means your doctor will put you to sleep with sedation and a flexible tube with a camera attached will be let down your throat into your stomach. The camera being attached to a computer will allow your doctor to see the balloon as it is filled with saline.

HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO STAY IN TURKEY FOR?The gastric balloon procedures are outpatients procedures that do not require a sleep over at the hospital, so a period of 2-3 days would be recommended to stay in Turkey.

HOW SOON CAN I RETURN TO WORK?As a non-surgical procedure, you do not have to worry about incision cuts and pain, however you can return to work following 2 days after procedure as long as you are feeling well and not experience any side effects.

HOW DO YOU MAKE PAYMENT?We do not require pre-deposit booking, so all payments are made in full at the hospital upon arrival, either by card or cash whichever option is convenient for you. We unfortunately do not offer payment plans.
