WHEN IS A LIVER TRANSPLANT NECESSARY?
Even when alcohol-related inflammation or fatty liver disease is present, hepatitis infections, long-term congestion or gallstones, certain metabolic diseases, tumours or congenital enzyme deficiencies are present, patients can continue a normal life for a long time while the progression of the disease is slow. But once liver failure becomes apparent, it can lead to itching, swelling of the lungs and ascites in the abdomen, severe hepatitis, bleeding and anemia.
In advanced liver disease, changes in personality and behaviour can be observed, weight loss, reduced urine output and fatigue can lead to coma. These symptoms indicate that the patient's liver can no longer meet the body's needs. This condition, called "liver failure," leaves a liver transplant as the only option for the patient.

Thus, the surgical process is very technically demanding. After transplantation, while living donors can be evacuated within 6-7 days, organ recipients should remain in the hospital for 15-20 days.
