Most people who ask what a gastric sleeve costs in the UK are asking about private surgery. Practice Plus Group publishes a fixed price of £8,799 for a sleeve gastrectomy, plus £145 for the initial consultation (read on 21 October 2026). This page sets that figure beside ours, and you do not have to get in touch with anyone to see a price.
What a gastric sleeve costs in the UK, written down
Rather than guess at a market average, we quote one provider that publishes its price. Practice Plus Group, which runs hospitals in England, states the cost of a gastric sleeve on its own treatment page. Read on 21 October 2026, it shows:
| Treatment | Published price at Practice Plus Group | What Practice Plus Group lists on top |
|---|---|---|
| Sleeve gastrectomy (gastric sleeve) | £8,799, a fixed price | £145 for the initial consultation, which includes a pre-operative assessment and any necessary tests |
That is one provider’s own figure, quoted as published and dated to the day we read it. Practice Plus Group also lists self-pay, insurance and payment plans as ways to pay. Prices change, so check Practice Plus Group’s gastric sleeve page for the current figure; other UK providers publish their own, and a written quote for your case is the only figure that applies to you.
Why the number moves: what each quote covers
Two people quoted for “a gastric sleeve” can be quoted for quite different things. Four points move the figure.
- The consultation and the tests before surgery. Some providers fold them into the price and some charge for them first. At Practice Plus Group, for example, the initial consultation with its pre-operative assessment is £145 on top of the fixed price.
- Whether the fees are bundled. A package price covers the surgeon, the anaesthetist, the operating theatre and the hospital together. An itemised quote lists them separately, so compare totals, not headline figures.
- The hospital stay. A gastric sleeve is a keyhole operation followed by a stay in hospital. Ask how many nights the quote covers, and what an extra night would cost.
- The aftercare programme. Follow-up appointments and dietitian support run for different lengths of time from one provider to the next, and some programmes are part of the price while others are charged separately.
Medication after the operation is in some prices and extra in others, so ask for a written quote that lists each item.
What a gastric sleeve costs with us, written down
| Treatment | Our fixed price |
|---|---|
| Gastric sleeve (laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy) | 2,250 € |
That is one fixed price, confirmed in writing before you decide anything. It covers the tests before the operation, the anaesthesia and hospital fees, the keyhole operation itself, three to four nights in hospital, and transfers between the airport, the hospital and where you stay. Nothing is added afterwards for the operating theatre, the anaesthetist or the nights in hospital; your accommodation after you leave hospital is not part of the price. How the treatment runs, from your first message to the flight home, is set out on our gastric sleeve in Turkey page.
Our price is in euros and the UK figure above is in pounds. We have left the conversion to you, at the exchange rate on the day.
If you are also pricing a gastric bypass or a balloon
People who look up the cost of a gastric sleeve often look up the other weight loss procedures as well. They are not priced alike: a gastric bypass is a different operation, and a gastric balloon is placed by endoscopy and later removed, with no surgery. For a UK figure, ask the provider for a written quote for your case. With us, a gastric bypass is 3,250 € and a classic gastric balloon is 2,300 €, each confirmed in writing; what they cover is on our gastric bypass in Turkey and gastric balloon in Turkey pages, and our guide to gastric balloon cost in the UK sets out the UK side of the balloon. If you have not settled on a procedure yet, our overview of weight loss surgery in Turkey sets the options side by side.
Paying for it: what to ask about finance before you sign
Some providers offer ways to spread the cost. The questions worth asking are the same wherever you book.
- Is it interest-free, and what is the total amount you will repay?
- Who is the lender, and is it authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority? You can check on the FCA’s Financial Services Register.
- When is the first payment due, and what happens if your treatment date moves?
- Is any deposit refundable, and on what terms?
With us, the gastric sleeve package can be paid in up to 6 monthly instalments at 0% interest, with no additional charges; the instalment option is confirmed in your written offer.
Questions people ask
How much is a gastric sleeve in the UK?
Practice Plus Group publishes a fixed price of £8,799 for a sleeve gastrectomy, plus £145 for the initial consultation, which includes a pre-operative assessment and any necessary tests (read on 21 October 2026). Other UK providers publish their own figures, and your own figure depends on what the quote covers: the tests, the hospital stay and the aftercare.
How much does a gastric sleeve cost?
It depends on where you have it and on what the price covers. In the UK, the figure above is one provider’s published price for private surgery. With us, a gastric sleeve in Turkey is one fixed price that covers the tests, the operation, the hospital stay and transfers, confirmed in writing before you travel.
Is it worth having a gastric sleeve?
That depends on what you want it to do and on your own situation, which is why the useful first step is a doctor’s review of your file: it tells you whether a sleeve suits your case before you spend anything. To judge value, compare written quotes that list the tests, the hospital stay, the aftercare and anything charged separately.
How long will a gastric sleeve last?
A gastric sleeve is permanent: part of the stomach is removed during the operation, so there is no device to take out or replace later, and no removal to pay for, unlike a gastric balloon. Whether it suits your case is what the doctor’s review of your file is for.
How quickly can I get bariatric surgery?
Privately, the date depends on the provider’s first consultation, the tests before surgery and the dates its surgeons have free, so ask each provider for its current waiting time in writing. With us, the doctor’s recommendation and the exact written price arrive within 48 hours of your file, and the date of the operation is agreed with you after that.
What to check before you book anywhere
Whichever provider you choose, in the UK or abroad, the same short list lets you compare like with like.
- A written quote for your case that lists the consultation, the tests, the operation and the hospital stay.
- How many nights in hospital the price covers, and what an extra night would cost.
- Who carries out each stage of the treatment.
- How follow-up works once you are home, and who you contact with a question.
- The payment terms, and when any deposit stops being refundable.
A provider that answers all five in writing, before you pay anything, makes the comparison easy.
Having it done in Turkey
We are an official representative office: we organise treatment at our JCI-accredited partner hospitals in Turkey and stay with you from the first message to the follow-up. Send your file, tell us what you want to achieve, and the doctor’s recommendation and the exact written price arrive within 48 hours, before you decide anything.
The operation is done by keyhole (laparoscopic) surgery and takes about 1 to 1.5 hours. Three to four nights in hospital follow, then a short stay nearby before you fly home: usually six to seven days in Turkey in all. An interpreter and your coordinator stay with you throughout, and our page on the gastric sleeve explains the operation, the stay and the recovery step by step.
Your coordinator stays your link to the doctor after you are home: questions are passed on and translated, and follow-up reviews are part of the package.
